The Library Snug....

The small room to the right of the hallway as you enter the house will make a perfect Snug/Library. With the walls decked in books and an open fireplace, and simple pieces of furniture like a striking chaise long and a comfy window seat.

The Library

Underneath the already built in cupboards would be a good place to store wood for the fire.

The Fire Place

Where the hearth is....

Fire Place & Mantle

Giving the library it's focal point & warmth. Finding the right hearth will be crucial, we can go to a reclamation yard like Eden Reclamation.

We have a great opportunity to create a special place in the window for a sleepy relaxing seat.

Funky but still cosy window seat

Making the window seat deep enough is important to ensure it becomes a favourite family spot!

Window Seat

The library shelving will come right up to the sides of the window seat giving it a more depth.

Behind the door..

Behind the door and in front of the radiator is the ideal place for the chaise long.

Library Sofa

A bold colour with luxurious fabric would also work well in this room.

Heavenly lounging

This style of seat would be a perfect fit for the room.

Shelving wall

The library shelves will run the full length and heightof the walls.

Traditional evenly spaced shelves will give the room a classic feel.

Alternative shelving

Alternatively we could go for a more asymmetric layout of the shelving......... just a thought though Peter!

The Media Cupboard

The Library room will also house the TV, music system and DVD player inside one of the built in cupboard alcoves beside the fireplace so they can be neatly closed away when not used.
